The album title, Melokuhle, is a tribute to the daughter of Laud’s close friend.
“She’s his whole heart,”
says Laud.
“Even though life doesn’t always allow him to be near her, his love never fades. That moved me deeply, and I wanted to honour that kind of love — the kind that endures in silence.”

Melokuhle’s father shared his emotional response to the album:

Tumisang Kekana, known professionally as Laud, hails from Hammanskraal, Pretoria. His musical journey began in high school with deep house, later evolving through hip hop before finding his voice in the Amapiano genre in 2020. With Melokuhle, he continues to carve out a space for emotionally rich and sonically layered storytelling in South African music.
