Multi-platinum artist and producer Abidoza is entering a new sonic chapter with the release of his latest single, “Club What” featuring Djy Vino, as he reconnects with the harder, club-focused side of his sound.
Out now across major digital streaming platforms, the single marks the beginning of a new era for the acclaimed producer and serves as the first taste of his forthcoming eight-track EP, Club Controller.
From soulful Amapiano to the dance floor
For more than a decade, Abidoza has built a reputation as one of South Africa’s respected producers and musical arrangers, becoming particularly known for his smooth and soulful interpretation of Amapiano.
After gaining nationwide recognition through the 2018 hit “Baby Boy”, he went on to build an extensive catalogue that includes records such as “Siyathandana” and “Dinaledi”, as well as projects including Musical Touch, Black Child and Pianochella.
His career has also seen him work alongside some of the biggest names in South African and African music, including Cassper Nyovest, Major League, Focalistic, Davido and CKay.
With “Club What”, however, Abidoza is deliberately moving beyond the sound many listeners have come to associate with him.
Built around driving grooves, hard-hitting production and infectious chants, the record places energy and movement at the centre of the experience.

Abidoza revisits a sound he left six years ago
The new direction represents a return to a heavier club sound that Abidoza says he has not properly explored in approximately six years.
“People know me for my soulful and smooth sound, so this project is really about showing another side of me,”
says Abidoza.
“I haven’t explored this kind of club sound properly in about six years, and I felt like it was time to challenge myself and give people something different.”
The shift also puts Abidoza’s identity as a performing DJ firmly at the centre of his music, with the new material created specifically with clubs, festivals and dance floors in mind.
“Club What” introduces the Club Controller era
“Club What” serves as the first official single from Abidoza’s forthcoming eight-track EP, Club Controller.
Even before its official release, the track had begun generating organic momentum on TikTok, while also finding its way into DJ sets and building anticipation among listeners.
For Abidoza, Club Controller provides an opportunity to showcase a side of his artistry that audiences may not have experienced extensively in recent years.
“Club Controller is about me exploring a side of my music that I haven’t really shown people before,”
he explains.
“The songs are more energetic and made with the DJ and the dance floor in mind. ‘Club What’ is just the beginning and I’m excited for people to hear where I’m taking it.”
Another single coming in October
Abidoza is expected to continue building the Club Controller era with another single scheduled for release in October, before the arrival of the full project.
The rollout positions the producer for the approaching South African summer season, with his new material designed to translate directly into clubs, festivals and DJ sets.
With “Club What”, Abidoza is not abandoning the soulful musicality that has defined much of his career. Instead, he is expanding his range and reminding audiences of another dimension of his sound, one driven by energy, rhythm and the dance floor.
