The Journalist pays tribute to Northern Sotho clan BAKONE

South African producer/DJ, Andile Mathobela aka The Journalist just released his brand new single titled #Bakone with the respected producer/DJ Gino Brown, the song pays tribute to the Northern Sotho clan of the Bakone people.

“Bakone is an important song that pays tribute to the almost forgotten tribe of Bakone people who have shaped the way black South Africans live life today”

says The Journalist.

The Warrenton, Northern Cape native has been a popular face for analyzing media trends on television and he recently launched three brand new digital magazines called KeBusy.Com, VumaniBo.com and TheJournalistDJ.com respectively – however he also dabbles in production as a house music DJ.

Going by the moniker, The Journalist, he is slowly but surely creating a legacy in the entertainment space, he also hosts events all over the country.

The Journalist plans on releasing an EP before the end of 2023.

Andile Mathobela is a media analyst by profession & the co founder of the Zkhiphani.com publication which is an online social lifestyle & entertainment magazine. He is popularily known as The Journalist – A 35 year old deejay that is based in Joburg, Gauteng – South Africa. He was born and bred in Warrenton – a sleepy township which is situated in Northern Cape.
The Journalist developed an ear for music at an early age. His introduction to house music had him obsessed with memorising and reciting complex beats to his friends in primary school after listening to some of his uncle’s house music compilations back in the early 2000s.

Although, deep house and EDM music were the least favourite in his community at the time, The Journalist always believed his passion for contributing to the House scene would one day turn into a reality. An introvert by nature, The Journalist enjoys spending his time indoors and honing his music skills. From a young age, When he finished matric in 2005, The Journalist was inspired to become a journalist after volunteering to be a presenter at a community radio station as he later went on to study media and journalism at the Rosebank College in Pretoria.

He pioneered the digital landscape shortly after that with his business partners when the zkhiphani publication was born and he continued to do so over a period of ten years but the calling to pursue music kept ringing in his ear and he finally decided to honour the invite as he sold his shares at the publication.

The Journalist plans on educating and informing everyone on the dance floors across South Africa through an eargasmic musical transcendence. The journalist specialises in progressive house, broken beats, afro tech as well as electronic dance music. The Journalist’s new single is titled Bakone and it features Gino Brown.
