Singer Nandi Tshifularo opens up about doing music by chance

by admin

Nandi Tshifularo is an Umlazi, Durban born singer-songwriter that is no stranger to the South African entertainment space.

She has worked as a radio presenter at Kaya FM, 94.5 KFM and Heart 104.9, and voice-over artist for radio and TV adverts.

Nandi studied Speech and Drama at the University of (KwaZulu) Natal, a qualification that surprisingly steered her away from the arts and towards Marketing and Communications. She has worked as a Copywriter, PR Account Executive and Communications Specialist within the banking and professional services sectors.

However, Nandi’s corporate career, radio and voice-over work were not the only tricks she had up her sleeve to infiltrate the entertainment industry, music was lurking in the background and drawing her in.

She decided to explore and took up part-time music courses at Copa in Kensington in 2013, eventually releasing a single, Move It, in 2015.

The track is a fusion of House and Brit Soul which still enjoys radio airplay in some markets. With such a varied resume, Nandi feels fortunate to be able to concentrate solely on music at the moment.

music happened by chance, but I’m glad it did – it is what I needed
