A Moment with the Legend
We caught up with the incomparable Sir LSG, fresh off his set at the exclusive Heineken event, where he and Soul Diva lit up the stage with a unique live performance. Backed by a keyboardist and backup singers, the duo delivered a soulful set that encapsulated their signature sound.
Crafting a Live Experience
“It was amazing,”
He said of the performance.
“We’ve been working on it for weeks, bringing live elements to the stage. It fits what we do perfectly.”
The fusion of live instrumentation and deep house grooves is exactly what Heineken requested — and Sir LSG delivered.
The Rise of Bread For Soul
Speaking of events, his own “Bread For Soul Sessions” has become one of the most sought-after house music gatherings in the country. The next show, happening on June 7th, is already sold out.
“We’ve been building this brand for three years,”
he explained.
“It’s all about house music, beautiful vibes, and even more beautiful people.”
Authenticity in an Amapiano Era
In an industry dominated by the Amapiano wave, how does he thrive with deep house?
“We don’t follow trends,”
he said.
“We stay true to what we love and attract people who vibe with that authenticity. That’s why the shows keep selling out.”
A Curated Journey Through Sound
The Bred For Soul lineup is a mix of legends, local talent, and emerging voices — with a strong emphasis on including female artists and live acts.
“We’re not lineup-driven. By the time we release the names, the show’s already 80% sold. It’s all about the mood, the music, and the experience.”
Spotlight on Local Talent
Sir LSG also highlighted deep house artists he believes deserve more shine:
“I’m playing a lot of Dustinho, Chronical Deep, Poison, Here For Soul, Soulfrika… There’s so much talent in SA, but not enough platforms. That’s why we rotate our lineups and document everything. We want to tell the South African house music story properly.”
New Music Loading
As for what’s next? Fans can expect a Sir LSG EP, a joint EP with Soul Diva, and even a Bread For Soul compilation.
“We’re always working on music. It’s just a matter of timing and capacity.”
Culture, Economy, and a Bigger Vision
More than just music, Sir LSG sees house culture as an economic driver.
“Events like this employ so many people. Music is a powerful tool. I just hope the government starts seeing that too — it could really grow the scene.”
Will the Interviews Return?
Known for his interviews during the COVID-19 era, Sir LSG hinted at a return to content creation.
“It’s something I want to come back to. But first, we’re focusing on solidifying Bread For Soul. Once we’ve built a solid team, the rest will follow.”
A Closing Note
Sir LSG — real name Lesego Sefako — remains one of South Africa’s most respected and consistent DJs and producers. His soulful, jazzy, and Afro-infused house music continues to shape and elevate the local scene.
From sold-out shows to upcoming releases, Sir LSG is not just playing house music — he’s building a house for the culture.
