Kings X Priests Release Sunset Sermon – Music Rooted in Faith

by admin

Kings X Priests have officially unveiled Sunset Sermon (Deluxe), a powerful and immersive body of work that blends deep, soulful house music with themes of faith, spirituality, and praise. Released on 16 December 2025, the deluxe album features 20 tracks that expand on the group’s now-signature sound: spiritual house music designed for both reflection and the dance floor.

Building on the impact of the original release, Sunset Sermon (Deluxe) delivers a full house music experience that celebrates belief, devotion, and communal worship through rhythm. The album includes standout tracks such as “Pull Me Near,” “Fade Away,” “Come With Us,” “Nkosi,” “Church,” and “Holy, Holy,” alongside deeper cuts and an interlude that elevate the project into a cohesive spiritual journey.

Speaking on the vision behind the project, Dr Chad Mathinussen, visionary and founder of the Kings X Priests movement, explains:

“Sunset Sermon was never meant to be just an album. It’s a movement, a sound that creates space for people to encounter God in places they may not traditionally expect on the dance floor, at sunset, in moments of joy and surrender. House music has always been spiritual at its core, and this project is about reclaiming that truth.”

Dr Mathinussen adds that the deluxe edition was intentionally expanded to deepen the listener’s experience:

“The deluxe version allowed us to tell the full story, from praise and prayer to struggle, restoration, and victory. Every track is intentional. Whether someone is dancing, driving, or praying, this music meets them where they are.”

The project has already begun resonating beyond music circles. South African rugby icons Siya Kolisi and Vincent Tshituka sparked widespread attention after Kolisi shared the Kings X Priests song “Come Again” on Instagram. The post featured a powerful image of the two athletes kneeling in prayer, accompanied by praying hands emojis, a love emoji, and the word “Amen”. Olympic champion Wayde van Niekerk has also publicly shown support for the album, further amplifying its reach across cultural and sporting communities.

Reflecting on this support, Dr Mathinussen says:

“Seeing leaders in sport and culture publicly align with faith through this music is powerful. It reminds us that worship isn’t confined to churches, it lives in our everyday lives, our victories, and our vulnerabilities.”

Adding to its growing momentum, Sunset Sermon (Deluxe) has secured placements on several prominent streaming playlists, including Spotify’s popular Sunset House playlist, introducing the music to a wider global audience and reinforcing the album’s crossover appeal.

At its core, Sunset Sermon (Deluxe) is more than an album, it is a musical offering that merges worship and house culture, inviting listeners into moments of praise, introspection, and celebration through sound.

In extending the Sunset Sermon experience beyond recorded music, Dr Mathinussen has also confirmed that the project will be brought to life on festival stages across the country. While he will personally curate and oversee the DJ sets, performance duties will be carried out by a masked DJ persona, a respected and prominent South African DJ entrusted to represent the Kings X Priests sound. This creative decision reflects Dr Mathinussen’s commitment to excellence, balancing his role as a dedicated family man and entrepreneur with the demands of live performance. The masked DJ concept ensures that the spiritual integrity, musical precision, and high-quality execution of Kings X Priests sets remain uncompromised, while allowing the focus to stay firmly on the message and the music rather than individual celebrity.
