Dinky Kunene Opens Up About Contract Struggles and Choosing Motherhood

by admin

Amapiano vocalist Dinky Kunene has broken her silence on why fans haven’t received new music from her, addressing aggressive social media pressure, industry challenges, and her decision to prioritise peace and motherhood.

Taking to social media, the former Idols SA contestant and amapiano star candidly explained that her absence from releasing music is not due to lack of creativity or passion, but rather a prolonged struggle to exit what she describes as a “really bad contract.”

“Even if I make music, I can’t drop it”

Dinky revealed that for almost a year she has been trying to free herself from a restrictive deal that has prevented her from officially releasing new material.

“People have been really aggressive in my DMs and comments about dropping music and getting back in studio. So here’s what’s up… I’m struggling for almost a year to get out of a really bad contract,” she shared.

Using her experience as a cautionary tale, the singer warned upcoming artists against chasing money at the expense of long-term freedom.

“Tip: don’t run after money, you’ll end up in the wrong situation.”

Despite the frustration, Dinky made it clear that she remains grounded in faith and patience, stating that “nothing meant for me will miss me.”

Motherhood changed everything

In addition to contractual issues, Dinky also revealed that she welcomed a baby and consciously took a year off to focus on motherhood.

She spoke honestly about the realities of balancing a music career with raising a child, saying she refuses to sacrifice her role as a parent for external pressure.

“I’m not going to let other people raise my child because I’m chasing something that’s not beneficial to me right now. My kid comes first.”

Her statement resonated strongly with fellow mothers, highlighting the often unseen challenges women in the entertainment industry face when navigating career demands and family life.

Gratitude to fans who stayed

Despite stepping back from music as her main priority, Dinky expressed deep appreciation for fans who continue to support her older releases.

“I’m happy with what I’ve created thus far, and having people who still bump my music is highly appreciated.”

She reminded followers that she had already indicated last year that music was no longer her first priority at the time.

Choosing peace in 2026

Looking ahead, Dinky Kunene says her focus is firmly on peace, healing, and alignment, hinting that whatever comes next will be on her own terms.

“I hope this explains everything nicely. In 2026, I plan to choose my peace.”

While fans eagerly await her return, the amapiano vocalist’s honesty sheds light on the realities behind the scenes — reminding audiences that success is not always linear, and that sometimes stepping back is an act of strength.
