South African bassist, DJ and producer George Lesley has officially returned with his highly anticipated album My Journey Continues, released on Friday, 6 March 2026 via Theko Entertainment.

The project highlights Lesley’s signature fusion of Amapiano and House, blending soulful musicality with deep dancefloor grooves. Known for his ability to bridge live instrumentation with electronic sounds, the album continues to showcase his evolution as a producer and composer, delivering a body of work that resonates both emotionally and rhythmically.

“Banomona” Featuring Russell Zuma Leads the Project

One of the standout moments on the album is the focus track “Banomona” featuring Russell Zuma. The song was born out of late-night studio sessions with renowned Amapiano producer Kelvin Momo.

Driven by haunting piano chords, layered rhythms, and Zuma’s emotive vocals, the track tells a story of love overshadowed by envy. The production carries a reflective atmosphere while still maintaining the groove that defines contemporary Amapiano. The result is a deeply personal yet dancefloor-ready song that captures the emotional depth of Lesley’s musical vision.

A Project Rooted in Musical Craftsmanship

My Journey Continues features a range of collaborations that underline George Lesley’s versatility as a bass guitarist, producer, and composer. Throughout the album, he blends rich basslines with melodic piano arrangements and rhythmic textures, creating a soundscape that moves effortlessly between soulful introspection and club-ready energy.

The project reinforces his reputation as one of South Africa’s most innovative musicians within the dance music landscape.

From Church Musician to Respected Industry Player

Born George Lesley Theko and raised in Sebokeng in the Vaal, Lesley began his musical journey playing keyboards in church. His early passion for music soon evolved into a professional career as a session musician, where he honed his skills alongside some of South Africa’s most celebrated artists.

Over the years, he has performed and collaborated with acts such as Mi Casa, Lindiwe Maxolo, Vusi Nova, Nathi Mkhayi, Donald and Mafikizolo.

Expanding His Musical Legacy

Beyond his solo work, Lesley is also a member of the soulful house duo Artwork Sounds and serves as a full-time bass player for Mafikizolo. His artistry continues to draw inspiration from global musical influences such as Robert Glasper, PJ Morton and The Roots.
