Following a successful first edition, Mayonie Open Air is expanding its footprint with a Johannesburg edition set to take over Constitution Hill on 29 November 2026.
Founded by South African music heavyweight Zakes Bantwini, the festival is bringing its celebration of Afro-house, electronic music and African culture to the City of Gold, with a heavyweight line-up already taking shape.
From Durban to Johannesburg
After recently bringing the Mayonie experience to Durban, the festival is wasting little time in taking the movement to its next destination.
Johannesburg is next, with Constitution Hill set to welcome music lovers for a full day of electronic sounds, culture and community.
For those who missed the Durban edition, the Joburg instalment offers another opportunity to experience the growing festival as it enters its next chapter.
Da Capo and Enoo Napa Set for Special B2B
One of the biggest attractions on the Johannesburg line-up will be a highly anticipated back-to-back set from Da Capo and Enoo Napa.
Both artists have carved out distinctive identities within South Africa’s electronic music landscape, making their pairing one of the sets likely to generate plenty of excitement heading into the festival.
Rather than appearing separately, the two producers and DJs will share the stage, combining their musical worlds for a special Mayonie performance.
Oscar Mbo, Themba and Ciza Join the Line-Up
The festival has also confirmed Oscar Mbo, Themba and Ciza, adding further depth to a bill built around different interpretations of contemporary African dance music.
With more artists still to be announced, Mayonie is gradually building a line-up designed to carry audiences from daytime grooves into a late-evening electronic music experience.
The additional announcements will also give fans plenty to look forward to as the November date approaches.
Constitution Hill Becomes a Dancefloor
The choice of Constitution Hill gives the Johannesburg edition a distinctive backdrop.
One of the city’s most historically significant landmarks will be transformed into a gathering point for music lovers, creatives and culture enthusiasts, bringing contemporary African electronic music into a space deeply connected to South Africa’s history.
Beyond the performances, Mayonie aims to create an experience centred around community and the continued global rise of African music and culture.
Zakes Bantwini Wants Mayonie to Bring People Together
For Zakes Bantwini and the Mayonie team, the Johannesburg edition represents another step in the festival’s growth.
“Mayonie is about bringing people together through music and creating a space where we can celebrate who we are, where we come from and where African music is going,” says Zakes Bantwini.
“We were just in Durban, we’re excited about Johannesburg and [want to] give our audience an experience they won’t forget.”
The expansion reflects a bigger ambition for Mayonie — building an African-rooted festival experience capable of travelling between cities while maintaining music and community at its centre.

Mayonie Open Air Johannesburg takes place on Sunday, 29 November 2026 at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg.
Tickets are now available through Howler, with general-access tickets starting from R250 and VIP tickets priced at R850.
With Da Capo, Enoo Napa, Oscar Mbo, Themba and Ciza already confirmed — and further names still to come — Mayonie Open Air is positioning its Johannesburg edition as one of the major Afro-house and electronic music dates on the city’s summer calendar.
