George Lesley and Soultronixx Unite for Soulful New EP Out of the Ordinary

by admin

South African musicians George Lesley and Soultronixx have joined forces on a new collaborative EP, Out of the Ordinary, bringing together organic musicianship, atmospheric production and the country’s rich house music tradition.

Built around themes of love, emotion and self-discovery, the project sees the two artists merge their individual musical identities while allowing their respective strengths to remain at the forefront.

Two Musical Worlds Meet

At the heart of Out of the Ordinary is the meeting of George Lesley’s soulful artistry and live musical sensibility with Soultronixx’s deep and immersive approach to production.

The combination results in a body of work driven by warm melodies, rich vocals and timeless house grooves, while organic instrumentation gives the EP a distinctly human quality.

Rather than attempting to force their collaboration into one particular sound, the pair allow their musical differences to complement each other throughout the project.

‘JIMMY’S GROOVE’ Takes Centre Stage

Leading the project is the focus track “JIMMY’S GROOVE,” a record that captures the essence of the collaboration between Lesley and Soultronixx.

Intimate yet expansive, the track draws from the emotional foundations of soulful house while incorporating live musical ideas and organic instrumentation.

The result reflects the wider approach behind Out of the Ordinary — music built around feeling and musicianship rather than simply following a formula.

An Honest Journey Through Music

Out of the Ordinary was developed as an honest musical journey between the two artists, with storytelling, emotion and instinct shaping the individual tracks.

The collaborative process allowed both musicians to bring their own perspectives into the studio, producing an EP that feels polished while retaining the spontaneity and warmth of musicians creating together.

Love and self-discovery emerge as recurring themes, giving the project an emotional thread beyond its dancefloor foundations.

Rooted in South African House, Built for Global Audiences

While firmly rooted in South Africa’s celebrated house music culture, Out of the Ordinary also carries international ambitions.

Its combination of soulful house, live musicianship and atmospheric production positions the project to connect with house music audiences beyond South Africa, particularly in established markets such as the UK and Europe.

Despite its international outlook, the project remains grounded in the musical traditions and influences that shaped both artists.

George Lesley’s Journey From Sebokeng to the Stage

Born George Lesley Theko, the bassist, DJ and producer comes from Sebokeng in the Vaal, with his musical journey beginning in church.

It was there that he first learned to play keyboard before gradually expanding his musical abilities into live performance, production and bass.

Over the course of his career, Lesley has worked alongside artists including Mi Casa, Lindiwe Maxolo and William Sejake, while his work as a session musician has seen him perform with Vusi Nova, Nathi Mankayi and Donald.

He is also a member of acclaimed soulful house duo Artwork Sounds and serves as a bassist for Mafikizolo.

A Continued Exploration of Soul and Musicianship

Drawing inspiration from musicians including Robert Glasper, PJ Morton and The Roots, Lesley has developed an approach centred around soulful composition, live instrumentation and musical exploration.

Out of the Ordinary represents another chapter in that journey, this time through a partnership with Soultronixx that places collaboration at the centre.
