A Rebirth Through Music

South African Amapiano producer and DJ Baby Momo has officially unveiled his brand-new project Lizalise, describing the album as a symbol of “rebirth” and a new chapter in his musical journey. Speaking during an intimate listening session in Rosebank, Johannesburg, the producer explained that the project carries deep personal meaning inspired by his niece, who shares the same name.

“Lizalise basically means reborn or rebirth,” Baby Momo shared during the interview. “It’s a name that I named my album through my niece. So basically it means rebirth.”

From Chilled Soulful Piano to Vibrant Spiritual Energy

Known for his emotionally layered and soulful production style, Baby Momo says Lizalise marks a sonic evolution from his previous album Kufezekile II. While the earlier project leaned heavily into calm and reflective sounds, the new album introduces a more energetic and groove-oriented direction while still maintaining spiritual themes.

“Production-wise, this is more vibey and is a mixture of spiritual as well,” he explained. “It speaks more about God, but it has that vibey element into the piano.”

He added that unlike Kufezekile II, which was designed for relaxed listening experiences, Lizalise is aimed at both intimate moments and dancefloor settings.

Lizalise you can also listen to it in a groove because it’s more vibe,” he said jokingly, hinting that he is now chasing those big December performances.

Star-Studded Collaborations Elevate the Album

The project also features an impressive lineup of collaborators, reinforcing Baby Momo’s growing influence within the Amapiano scene. Among the artists he worked with are Kabza De Small, MaWhoo, Major League DJZ, and Jay Sax.

Chasing Platinum Success

Following the success of Kufezekile II, which achieved gold status, Baby Momo revealed that his ambitions for Lizalise are even bigger. The producer hopes the project will introduce him to new audiences and eventually surpass the achievements of his previous work.

“I want this one to reach platinum status,” he said. “I want it to perform more than Kufezekile.”

An Instrumental Project Is Already on the Way

Despite only just launching Lizalise, Baby Momo confirmed that he is already preparing another project scheduled for release later this year. This time, however, the producer plans to explore a completely instrumental sound rooted in jazz influences.

“I’ll be dropping another project later this year,” he revealed. “I’m working on an instrumental project now. It doesn’t have any vocals… something jazz-wise.”

While he has not yet confirmed a title or release date, the announcement signals Baby Momo’s desire to continue pushing creative boundaries within South Africa’s evolving Amapiano landscape.
