South African DJ and multi-platinum producer Abidoza is turning up the energy with Club Controller, an eight-track EP that puts his work behind the decks and his appetite for dancefloor-focused production in the spotlight.
The project follows September’s release of “Club What” with Djy Vino, and “Chomi” alongside Djy Vino and KMAT, featuring Trixx. Those singles introduced the direction that now takes shape across the full EP.
A New Gear for a Soulful Hitmaker
Known for the smooth, soulful Amapiano associated with records such as “Baby Boy,” “Siyathandana” and “Dinaledi,” Abidoza explores a more club-driven side of his artistry on Club Controller.
The project places DJs and dancefloors at the centre of its approach, expanding his catalogue with music intended to move between everyday listening and DJ sets. It also brings his identity as a performing DJ into sharper focus, complementing the production work that has become his calling card.
A Collaborative Approach
For the eight-track release, Abidoza brings together Tumza D’kota, Calvin Fallo, EI. Stephano, Djy Vino, KMAT and Trixx.
Tumza D’kota features on both the opening track, “Batlore Tswenya,” and the closing number, “Just Like That,” while Calvin Fallo appears on “City Rains.” Abidoza teams up with EI. Stephano on “Controller,” with the previously released “Club What” and “Chomi” also finding their place on the project.
The remaining tracks, “Skoko” and “Organic Roots,” complete the EP.
“Each Track Has Its Own Vibe”
Speaking about the release, Abidoza says the project was shaped by the energy he wanted to create and the contributions of his collaborators.
“With Club Controller, I wanted to put together music that brings a certain energy. Each track has its own vibe, and having these different artists come into the mix made the project even more exciting. Now that the full EP is out, I can’t wait for people to get into it, for DJs to pick up the tracks and for the music to find its way onto the dancefloor,” he says.
