Da Capo is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s best when it comes to producing house music. The self-taught producer
and DJ was drawn to music at an early age and quickly discovered his undeniable talent for creating hit tracks that
blaze dance floors across the world.
If there is curiosity surrounding his name, it’s because of its origins. Da Capo’ is Italian for ‘from the beginning (literally
from the head)’. The concept resonated with the DJ and became his stage name after realizing his initial selection was
already taken.
Da Capo’s real name is Nicodimas Sekheta Mogashoa. He was born and raised in the small township of Seshego in
Limpopo, South Africa. At the age of 20 years, Da Capo signed his first recording deal with DNH Records and began to
solidify his presence in the afro house music scene with remixes and hit singles.
His first solo project was a self-titled album that was released in 2014 and featured well-known vocalists such as Clara Hill, Rona Ray & Soulstar. In 2015 Da Capo found his now home Soulistic Music and released the popular EP Touched in 2016, which was released with the hit single Speed of Sound, featuring Tresor.
The second and much anticipated album Indigo Child part 1, which brags of his versatile sound, was released at the
end of 2017. The album is a 12-tracked album that starts off with soulful house tracks featuring the likes of Jazz
Maestra Wanda Baloyi, Jackie Queens, Afro-soul songstress Berita and Darian Crouse, and transcends into Afro
dancefloor blazers that feature Renee Thompson, Tshepo King & Soulstar.
This project has over 36.5 million streams across music platforms with singles like Africa selling x4 platinum units, Kelaya x3 platinum, Found You x2 platinum and Resistance, Dancing In The Villa, and Ndiphendule selling gold individually.
In 2020 Da Capo has released his first project as an independent artist with his newly established record label Genesis
Entity.
The Genesys EP was released in May with the hit single “Yehla Moja” featuring Pianist Nduduzo Makhathini &
Omagugu. The international touring producer & DJ has performed around the world with the best of them in places such as
OUTPUT in New York, Hï Ibiza in Ibiza, Djoon in Paris, Jimmy’s Monte Carlo in Monaco, Void in Mykonos, just to name
a few.
