Sol Phenduka releases Malaika dedicated to his daughter

by admin

Radio personality, music DJ, and podcaster, Sol Phenduka, joins forces with acclaimed saxophonist, Jay Sax, for what can best be described as a love letter from father to daughter.

The brand-new single, which dropped on November 18, is named after Sol Phenduka’s first-born child; “Malaika” meaning “my angel” in Swahili.

“It’s basically me talking to my daughter through music”

– shares Sol.

The song takes you on a musical journey with a transcendent instrumental, accompanied by a soulful saxophone by Jay Sax, taking you to a place of peace and serenity.

Although incredibly soulful, the song brings in elements of Amapiano, with a log drum knocking right on cue.

With a deep history in tribal Afrocentric music, and previous hits that brought him into the fold, such as ‘Uhuru’ and “Isolomzi’, Sol stays true to his unique sound and keeps pushing the bounds with the music.

“I’ve always been confident in my interpretation of whatever sound I delve into, be it ‘piano or tribal. I always remain true to myself and my sound. So that’s what people can expect.”

– Sol Phenduka.
