MEET the Multi Talented Amapiano Artist Khanya Greens

by admin

Born into a legacy of activism and artistry, Khanya Greens, formerly known as Khanyisile Siphiwe Ngutshane, has emerged as a multifaceted force in the South African entertainment scene.

The daughter of esteemed struggle stalwarts Professor Enos Ngutshane and Dr. Ann Ngutshane, Khanya Greens has carved her own path in the world of music, acting, and performance.

From an early age, Greens’ upbringing was steeped in a rich tapestry of music, arts, and culture, cultivated by her well-traveled parents who studied in exile during the Apartheid era.

Her innate talent for singing and performing was evident from nursery school concerts, where she often took center stage, captivating audiences with her magnetic presence.

Fueling her passion for the entertainment industry, Greens delved into drama during her high school years, even landing roles as an extra on popular television shows like Rhythm City.

After completing her Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town, she embarked on a journey that would see her rise to prominence in both the television and music spheres.

In 2015, Greens made her breakthrough in television with her role as Nkuleh Dlamini on the hit South African telenovela, Uzalo. Since then, she has graced the screens of various local productions, including Isidingo: The Need, Generations: The Legacy, Isithembiso, The Queen, and Gomora, showcasing her versatility and acting prowess.

But Greens’ talents extend beyond the realm of acting. Discovered by the King of Kwaito himself, Arthur Mafokate, she made her mark in the music industry with her debut Afro Soul album, “Be Still and Know”, released in 2018. However, it was her embrace of the Amapiano genre that truly solidified her place in the music scene.

In 2020, Greens collaborated with renowned Amapiano artists, lending her soulful vocals to tracks like “Indlela” with MFR Souls, “My Baby” with Major League and Abidoza, and “Wawela” with De Mthuda and Ntokzin, among others. Her singles, including “Your Love” featuring Ntokzin and De Mthuda, further showcased her ability to seamlessly blend genres and captivate audiences.

The pinnacle of Greens’ musical journey came with the release of her highly anticipated Amapiano album, “Piano Journey”, on September 24, 2021. Featuring 14 tracks and collaborations with industry heavyweights like Lady Du and Moscow on Keys, the album showcased Greens’ evolution as an artist, with each track weaving a narrative of its own.

With her star on the rise, Khanya Greens continues to break boundaries and defy expectations, cementing her status as one of South Africa’s most promising talents in the entertainment industry. As she continues to explore new avenues of creativity, her legacy as a multi-talented artist only continues to grow.
