Tman Xpress Talks Hustle, Legacy, and New Album with Mellow & Sleazy

by admin

In the ever-evolving world of Amapiano, few names work harder—or shine brighter—than Tman Xpress. Known for his spiritual vocals and relentless work ethic, the South African artist has solidified himself as a key player in the genre, dropping hit after hit and collaborating with industry heavyweights like DJ Maphorisa, Mellow & Sleazy, and Heavy K.

“I make a song every day,”

Tman Xpress tells us during an exclusive chat.

“Probably seven to ten songs a week. Some of them I even forget about until I go back and polish them.”

For him, studio time isn’t just a creative space—it’s a daily commitment.

“If you really want to do this, you need to treat it like a job. Just like people wake up and go to a 9 to 5, you need to wake up and go to studio.”

That grind mentality wasn’t always the case. Once juggling a day job while nurturing his music dreams, Tman recalls the moment he made the leap.

“There was a voice telling me, ‘Quit this 9 to 5 and go chase your dream.’ And I chased it, dawg. Now look—I’m doing it full time.”

Amapiano with Heart and Hometown Roots

Tman Xpress is currently gearing up for the release of his joint album with production duo Mellow & Sleazy, titled Midnight In Diepkloof.

“I said, let’s take it to Diepkloof, my hometown,”

he says.

From Afro Tech to Amapiano to 3-Step

While many know Tman Xpress for his melodic vocal contributions to Amapiano hits like Imali iKhona, Chukela, and Kwelanga 2.0, his roots run deeper.

“I actually started out doing Afro Tech,”

he reveals.

“Now I’m blending that with Amapiano, and even getting into the 3-step sound. Anything that’s original and from South Africa—I want to be a part of it.”

Heavy Collaborations and Heavy Emotions

Tman’s recent collaboration with legendary producer Heavy K also turned heads.

“That track felt spiritual, man,”

he says.

“Heavy K and I, we cooked something deep.”

Gratitude, Humility, and Legacy

Closing the interview, Tman Xpress expresses heartfelt appreciation to his supporters.

As he prepares to drop Midnight In Diepkloof and ride the wave of a new sonic chapter, one thing is clear: Tman Xpress isn’t slowing down.

And if you’re wondering whether he’s still in the studio—yeah, you guessed it—he’s probably recording another hit right now.
