DJ Sabby Returns to Host Corona Sunsets Festival

by admin

Award-winning radio, television and media personality DJ Sabby, born Sabelo Mtshali, is set to take centre stage this year as one of the hosts of the highly anticipated Corona Sunsets Festival Cape Town broadcast.

The globally recognised music and lifestyle event will return to national television this March, with SABC 1 once again partnering with the festival to bring the vibrant open-air experience to viewers across South Africa. The broadcast is scheduled for Saturday, 21 March 2026.

DJ Sabby will return as a host following his role in the Johannesburg edition of the festival broadcast, but this time the celebrated presenter heads to Cape Town to lead audiences through the sunset spectacle.

SABC 1 Continues Partnership with Iconic Festival

Following the success of the Johannesburg broadcast, the renewed collaboration between SABC 1 and Corona Sunsets Festival marks the next chapter in bringing the experience to national audiences.

The Cape Town edition will extend the festival’s golden-hour magic onto television screens, delivering the signature atmosphere and music-driven celebration that has made the event one of the country’s most distinctive lifestyle festivals.

A Host with a Proven Track Record

As one of the event’s broadcast hosts, DJ Sabby brings years of experience in live entertainment and broadcasting. He is currently the host of Metro FM’s primetime breakfast show, Best Mornings, and has built a reputation as one of South Africa’s most dynamic media personalities.

Over the years, he has hosted some of the country’s biggest live events and award shows, including the South African Music Awards, the Metro FM Music Awards, SABC 1’s New Year’s Eve Last Dance and the iconic Back To The City music festival.

His deep knowledge of music culture and natural stage presence are expected to elevate the televised experience of the festival.

A Meaningful Return to the Festival Stage

Reflecting on his return to the event, DJ Sabby described the moment as both exciting and personal.

“Returning to host the Corona Sunsets Festival in Cape Town feels like a full-circle moment. Coming back to a stage that celebrates organic energy, music, being in the moment, connection and reuniting with Hope Mbhele after hosting the Metro FM Awards nominations event in Durban makes it even more meaningful,”

he said.

Star-Studded Line-Up for the Cape Town Edition

The Corona Sunsets Festival Cape Town will feature an impressive mix of international and local talent. Headlining the event are Grammy Award-winning DJ and producer Purple Disco Machine and South African music powerhouse Zakes Bantwini.

They will be joined by a diverse lineup including Sun-El Musician, Msaki, DJ Kent, Liquideep, Mila-Rose, Blakongo, Roz b2b Housewife, Meek, and a special once-off sunset performance by the Ndlovu Youth Choir.

More Than Music: A Full Festival Experience

Beyond the performances, the SABC 1 broadcast will capture the immersive essence of the festival’s celebrated Sunset Moment. Viewers can expect breathtaking aerial performances, creative art installations and the festival’s signature More Than Music experiences.

These include curated wellness sessions, spaces for creative expression, drum circles and sustainable food activations designed to enhance the atmosphere beyond the main stage.

Bringing a Cultural Moment to National Television

The ongoing collaboration between Corona and SABC 1 continues to highlight the broadcaster’s commitment to showcasing major cultural and entertainment experiences to national audiences.

As anticipation builds for the Cape Town edition, the broadcast aims to build on the success of the Johannesburg showcase and position the Corona Sunsets Festival not just as a live event, but as a shared cultural television moment where music, atmosphere and community come together.
