Grammy Award-winning artist, producer, entrepreneur and cultural visionary Zakes Bantwini has officially announced the launch of the Zakes Bantwini Foundation, an initiative dedicated to empowering communities through art, education, sports, music and cultural development.
The foundation is built on a vision of creating meaningful opportunities for women, youth and aspiring creatives across South Africa by helping them turn their talents into sustainable careers. Through mentorship, skills development and industry access, the initiative aims to nurture future leaders in both the creative and sports sectors.
Bridging the Gap Between Talent and Opportunity
Speaking about the launch, Zakes Bantwini highlighted the importance of supporting young people with practical tools and guidance needed to succeed in competitive industries.

One of the flagship programmes under the foundation is the EmpowerHER Workshops, which will focus on empowering women in music, sports and the arts through leadership and entrepreneurship training.
The programme aims to create safe and impactful spaces where women can gain valuable industry knowledge, build confidence and develop the business skills needed to navigate creative careers successfully.
Youth Talent Incubator to Nurture Emerging Talent
The foundation will also launch the Youth Talent Incubator under Mayonie Productions, a mentorship and development programme designed to support emerging artists and athletes.
The initiative will provide guidance, career development and access to opportunities that can help young talent grow within professional creative and sporting environments.
Educating Creatives Through the Business of Music Summit
Recognising the growing importance of industry knowledge, the foundation will introduce the Business of Music Summit, which will focus on educating artists and creatives about publishing, marketing, distribution and monetisation within the music business.
The summit is expected to provide aspiring musicians and entrepreneurs with practical insights into building sustainable careers in entertainment.
Celebrating Local Talent Through Arts and Sports Development
Additional programmes include the Creative Arts Festival, which will celebrate local talent through performances, exhibitions, workshops and international networking opportunities.
The foundation will also introduce a Sports Leadership Academy and Digital Media Training programme aimed at equipping young people with leadership, branding and digital skills relevant to modern career paths.
