Amapiano star forced to cancel The Darque Experience appearance
South African amapiano heavyweight Kabza De Small has been forced to pull out of his scheduled performance at The Darque Experience in Nairobi, Kenya, after falling ill.
The news was confirmed on Saturday by fellow South African DJ and producer Darque, who addressed disappointed fans on social media just hours before the event.
“My sincere apologies to the people of Nairobi, I come bearing not so good news. We just found out that my brother Kabza De Small is really unwell. So much so that he won’t be able to make it to tonight’s dance,” Darque wrote.
Darque says organisers did everything possible
Darque explained that the cancellation was beyond the control of everyone involved, adding that every effort had been made to get the amapiano star to Kenya for the highly anticipated event.
“This is truly beyond our control and we have tried everything we could to get him here! I am sorry guys! I am as gutted as you are!”
Despite the setback, Darque assured fans that the event would continue and teased a surprise guest or special addition to help make up for Kabza’s absence.
“Not all is lost though as I have a special surprise to try and make it up to the people of Nairobi. More on that shortly. Thank you for sticking out with The Darque Experience! I truly appreciate you guys! The party continues!”
Official statement apologises to fans and organisers
An official statement released on behalf of Kabza De Small by Piano Hub and Lawk Communications also confirmed that the producer was unable to travel due to unforeseen circumstances.
Addressing fans directly, Kabza apologised to event organisers, sponsors and supporters for missing the show.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to perform at The Darque Experience in Nairobi, Kenya, scheduled for 11th of July 2026. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to the event organizers, their sponsors, and especially my supporters. I truly appreciate the support and understanding, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all soon.”

Following the announcement, fans across social media wished Kabza De Small a speedy recovery, while many praised Darque for communicating the situation openly and reassuring attendees that the event would still go ahead.
Although Kabza’s absence is a significant disappointment for fans who had been looking forward to seeing the amapiano icon perform in Nairobi, organisers remain committed to delivering an unforgettable experience, with Darque promising that “the party continues.”
