Legendary Producer and DJ to Receive Two of the SAMAs’ Highest Honours
The Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA) has announced that legendary producer, DJ and music entrepreneur Oskido will be honoured with two of the South African Music Awards’ highest accolades at SAMA32, sponsored by the Motsepe Foundation.
The prestigious ceremony is set to take place on 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Superbowl, bringing together some of the biggest names in South African music alongside emerging talent and industry leaders.
Oskido’s Legacy Recognised Once Again
Oskido’s latest honour follows his receipt of the RiSA Chairperson’s Award at SAMA30, where he was recognised for his extraordinary contribution to South African music as a music executive, producer, entrepreneur and cultural pioneer.
Now, the music heavyweight will join an illustrious group of South African music legends whose careers and contributions have fundamentally shaped the country’s musical landscape.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognises Oskido’s enduring influence and his role in helping build the foundations of South Africa’s contemporary music industry.
Celebrating a Cultural Architect
For decades, Oskido has been associated with some of the most important developments in South African dance music and popular culture. His influence extends beyond his work behind the decks and in the studio, encompassing music entrepreneurship, artist development and the creation of platforms that have helped shape generations of talent.
The Lifetime Achievement Award therefore represents more than recognition for longevity. It acknowledges the lasting impact of an individual whose career has helped influence the sound and business of South African music.
SAMA spokesperson Unati Gwija said the honour is intended to celebrate individuals whose legacies continue to inspire generations of musicians and creatives.
“The Lifetime Achievement Award is more than a recognition of longevity; it is a celebration of those whose artistry has shaped the soundtrack of our nation, inspired generations and paved the way for the next wave of South African talent.”
Gwija added that the award highlights the importance of recognising cultural architects while they are still able to witness the impact of their work.
SAMA32 Positions North West as a Cultural Destination
Beyond the awards themselves, SAMA32 is being positioned as an important driver of tourism and economic activity in the North West Province.
The ceremony is backed by a broad partnership involving the Motsepe Foundation, North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, North West Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation and Tourism (DEDECT), SA Tourism, SABC, SAMPRA, SAMRO, CAPASSO, RiSA, RiSA Audio Visual (RAV), MNM Funerals, Settlers Media, NX and IOL.
Through these partnerships, the SAMAs have evolved into more than an annual music awards ceremony, becoming a platform for destination marketing and cultural tourism.

With thousands of music fans, industry professionals, media representatives and visitors expected to converge on the province, SAMA32 is set to generate activity across tourism, hospitality, entertainment and the creative economy.
Gwija highlighted the wider economic impact of bringing the country’s music industry together in the province.
