Shimza’s Kunye Returns to Johannesburg This Weekend

Shimza’s Kunye returns to Johannesburg this Saturday, 7 November 2026, bringing its latest celebration of Afro-house to Huddle Park in Linksfield.

Billed as Kunye Jozi XI, the event will run from midday until 10pm, with Shimza, Francis Mercier and DJ Kent among the confirmed artists. The gathering marks the series’ eleventh Johannesburg edition, continuing its presence on the city’s outdoor dance music calendar.

The announced names bring South African and international talent into the same space. Haitian-American DJ and producer Francis Mercier joins Shimza and local house mainstay DJ Kent, with the official event listing indicating a further ten artists on the programme.

Beyond the line-up, Kunye’s stated mission centres on connecting artists and audiences while championing South African musical heritage. The platform places the development of African producers at the heart of its efforts to build international recognition for the continent’s electronic music.

That focus gives the Johannesburg gathering a purpose beyond a single day of performances: a space for audiences to engage with the artists and sounds shaping the scene, alongside talent from outside South Africa.

With a ten-hour programme, the event will take audiences from an afternoon gathering into an evening on the dancefloor at Huddle Park Golf & Recreation.

Tickets are available through Howler. Entry is strictly for over-18s, and organisers encourage attendees to use e-hailing or rideshare services. Cooler boxes and camping chairs are among the prohibited items.
