DJ Tshegu has unveiled artwork for her forthcoming EP, MY SHOES, MY JOURNEY, drawing inspiration from Missy Elliott while setting out her own creative ambitions. The project is scheduled for release on Friday, 6 November 2026.
Sharing the images on social media, Tshegu acknowledged the influence of the American artist’s fearless approach to music, style and self-expression.
“A little Missy Elliott influence, a whole lot of DJ Tshegu,” she wrote. “Inspired by a woman who was never afraid to be different, break boundaries and create her own lane. Now it’s my turn to leave my own footprints.”
The accompanying portraits give that message a striking visual identity. Against a vivid yellow-orange background, Tshegu appears in a cream fur-textured outfit, a black cap and oversized eyewear. Red-and-black script lettering and a grainy print effect lend the images a retro editorial feel, connecting her stated inspiration to the presentation of the release.
Across the two portraits, her poses shift from partially concealing her face beneath her cap to extending one hand towards the camera. The styling and expressive gestures put personality at the centre of the campaign.
The EP’s title carries that emphasis on personal identity into its wider concept. Tshegu summed up the announcement with the words: “Different shoes. Different stories. One journey.”
While the caption does not reveal the tracklist or featured collaborators, it offers a clear introduction to the thinking behind the project: acknowledging an influential creative figure while telling a story of her own.
