Born and raised in Polokwane, Phalanndwa, Joseph Mbedzi, well-known as Punk Mbedzi, is a natural born creator. The DJ, producer, storyteller and entrepreneur has played a vital role in supporting and growing afro and dance house in South Africa.
From headlining shows in Africa alongside the likes of Black Coffee, to spinning the decks in Paris, Punk has garnered support of loyal fans across the globe.
After a short hiatus, the DJ and producer is ready to release his debut solo album, having previously released his successful Milk and Honey EP.
The album titled Seasons, is a mirror reflection of the creative process and Punk’s personal and spiritual journey thus far.
Initially the project was earmarked to be released as an EP, however as Punk went deeper into the creative process, it turned
into an album.
As you can tell from the well-received album cover released on social media, Seasons speaks to Punk’s recent personal journey from welcoming a new baby boy to marrying the love of his life.
It’s all a well written love story, whose backtrack, is none other than an album by Punk himself.
Punk takes you through a trance and with each song having vocals, the lyrical content takes you on a journey to a place, only you can imagine.
The album features a number of well-known producers and vocalists to bring the entire project to life, namely, Vanco, Azana, Bongi Mvuyana, Jamila, Zikhona, Tazzy, Rumby Praises, BATUNDI and MJ Sings.
