Zai Maya is a seasoned artist having started out as an on air presenter in community radio. She quickly broadened her audience and joined YFM as a YTKO DJ and co-hosted The HipHop Floor alongside DJ Speedsta.
Not only was she known as radio DJ, but she expanded her skill as a club DJ and all-round entertainer working with various national radio stations including Ukhozi FM and Metro FM to name a few, and a mix show on Soweto TV.
A songwriter at heart, Zai Maya has always written music from a very young age. Her music style is indicative of the variety of musical tastes she was exposed to from an early age.
It is this diversity that pushed her to collaborate with various artists and producers across sub-saharan Africa such as Josi Chave, Makwa and Treasured Soul. One of her greatest achievements includes having a top three single in Mozambique with LayLizzy.
Following the initial teaser of ‘No Casualties’, Zai Maya has now released ‘No Casualties Part 2’ featuring Treasured Soul. This version carries the emotion from the teaser while enjoying a fresh engaging beat allowing the listener to enjoy its musicality.
