Zimbabwean born, South African based songwriter and vocalist Jackie Queens has something that she needs to get off her chest regarding Gender Based Violence in the country.
She wrote a song called SAVE ME which is actually an Enoo Napa – Innevrsion bootleg.
“My first thought this morning was the world doesn’t need more singers. it feels weird promoting music while everything is burning around us. my next release was written at the height of outrage at the death of Uyninene. while we are mourning Kwasa, today i read the story of 25 year old Nkosiphile Nkambule who died from burns sustained while saving her child from a fire her boyfriend had set after an argument. some folks was treating it as trifling matter. nothing has changed. today is also the anniversary of Uyinene’s passing. we are not doing enough. this is not my next release. but this week we also saw the lengths corporates will go to capitalise on women’s pain. my heart is heavy. i believe Lerato Moloi. we are not doing enough. the song is primarily about women who die at the hands of their intimate partners.” – Jackie Queens.
