Warner Music Africa proudly presents CKay’s ‘WATAWI’ pulling impressive numbers, the only way CKay knows how.
Five days into release and CKay’s enchanting ‘WATAWI’ is dominating the streets and charts. Produced by Abidoza with guest appearances from two of Africa’s most sought-after acts Davido and Focalistic, the number is a conversational tune that sparks an important conversation in any relationship where lines may be blurred.
CKay’s Emo-Afrobeat approach and signature soothing voice on the song are complemented by Davido’s distinctive vocals and Focalistic’s quasi-rap/quasi-Kwaito swag. Abidoza does right by his collaborators and creates a robust yet calming Amapiano beat that supports their tones effortlessly. It’s so catchy that even the likes of Camilla Cabello posted the song on her Instagram Story.
The numbers have since begun to speak for themselves, with, YouTube recording over 1,7 Million views while song trends at #27.
Audiomack reported just over 1 Million streams on the track, while Spotify had an additional 750K streams. Apple Music claims over 440K listens on Apple Music and pushes through on Boomplay with 280K streams. As if that weren’t enough, the song thrives even on local territory, securing 3 million impressions across South African radio and 13 Million impressions across all Nigerian radio stations.
The tune is placed impressively among playlists such as the Global Pop playlist on Apple Music, Afro Vibes on Amazon Music, and Rhythm & Groove on Tidal. On Deezer, it sets the bar hitting #1 on both the PopTop and Afro Hits playlists. All these playlists are so pivotal in their overall receptivity as they reach markets such as North America, Europe, Asia, and of course Africa.

This is unsurprising for a song that already had people talking before its release, 12K people tuned into a Twitter Spaces chat with the artists hosted on the Warner Music Africa Twitter page. This has also meant that CKay’s audience and impact are growing as he climbed 51 spots to enter the top 10 Nigerian Artists on Spotify at #9 while Focalistic takes up the #16 position.
All the evidence of perfect timing, this Summer CKay takes the global stage as he begins his world tour from June 2022 to September 2022.
