‘Chipi Ke Chipi’ taken from the ‘Midnight in Sunnyside’ EP is currently at Gold status with 1.5 million streams. The smash hit amidst its popularity has racked up one million views on the official audio on YouTube in less than two months.
Mellow and Sleazy are a duo that draws inspiration from artists from their hometown, Pretoria. They grew up to the sounds of Vusi MaR5, Phindy Maphendula, DJ Mujava, Nastee Nev, just to name a few.
This influence can be heard in their Barcardi beats that have garnered the attention of many. Mellow, born Phemelo Sefanyetse on 20 April 2001, was born and raised in GaRankuwa, Pretoria. Mellow met Sleazy, born Olebogeng Kwanaite on 11 May 2001 in Soshanguve, in university.
Their friendship grew when they discovered that they both had a passion for music. Their combination of Amapiano and barcardi makes for an electrifying performance that will leave everyone wanting more. Mellow & Sleazy made their production debut on Focalistic’s 2020 album, Sghubu Ses Excellent.
They went on to be part of songs such as Catalia with Lady Du, Alostro Effect which later became Snake Park, Gupta, Trust Fund, just to name a few.
