Apple Music’s annual Summertime Sounds campaign is back, serving as the ultimate destination for summer-inspired music. This year, the campaign has partnered with two South African musical heavyweights—Dlala Thukzin and Shimza—to deliver the perfect soundtrack for the sunny season and the highly anticipated festive period, Ke Dezemba.
Dlala Thukzin, known for his genre-blending prowess that fuses Amapiano, Afro-tech, and Gqom, has curated an exclusive DJ Mix for the campaign. In contrast, house music icon Shimza offers a carefully crafted playlist filled with his favorite tracks leading into the holidays.
“This summer, I want to see people happy and enjoying my new album, Finally Famous Too, as well as the good music everyone else is producing,”
Dlala Thukzin told Apple Music.
“My song selection was driven by my mood, and it’s the perfect DJ Mix to listen to on your way to work, thanks to its inspirational and motivating sounds.”
Shimza, a global ambassador of Afro-house, shared his passion for bringing his music back to South Africa:
“I love to bring my music home at the end of the year for a South African summer and showcase what I’ve learned at my own shows to my own people. This playlist incorporates a mix of friends, collaborators, and is my love letter from South Africa to the world.”
The Summertime Sounds campaign is live now, promising to ignite the holiday spirit with sizzling beats and soul-stirring melodies.
Highlights include Dlala Thukzin’s DJ Mix, which seamlessly blends tracks like “Nkosi” by Darque, Kabza de Small, and Dlala Thukzin, and “Sohlala Sisonke” featuring Zeh McGeba and MK Productions.
Meanwhile, Shimza’s playlist, Summer TGTHER, offers a global perspective with tracks like Elderbrook & Shimza’s “Places” and Da Capo’s remix of Empire of the Sun’s classic, “Walking On A Dream.”
