The Biri Marung Verse That Shook the Game
If 2024 had a defining anthem, Biri Marung was it — and Focalistic’s verse was the standout moment. Whether you heard it at a packed festival or blasting from a passing taxi, the energy was unmistakable.
“You arguably had one of the best years last year with that Biri Marung verse,”
we tell him.
“Did you know it was going to blow up the way it did?”
“Yo, I never actually know,”
Focalistic says.
“Big shout out to God, you know. For me, it’s always God. I always say, before I record, there’s always a blessed day. So yeah, I give it all to God. And shout out to everyone else on the song, man. I feel like everything was just anointed by God, and we’re grateful for that. People resonated with the energy — because the energy was like that.”
No Time to Chill – Township Freestyle Goes Viral
Just when fans thought he might take a breather after such a monumental run, Foca dropped a raw freestyle straight from the heart of Pretoria. Shot in what looked like a township taxi, the video reminded everyone that Focalistic stays connected to the streets.
“We saw you drop that freestyle in a local taxi — what’s that about?” we ask.
He grins.
“Yoh! Just vibes, man. But I’m working on an album right now. You’re gonna make me say too much, but yeah — I’m working. And trust me, it’s going to change how people see the genre we’re making. We’re spending a lot of time on it.”
A Journey From Ga-Rankuwa to Global Stages
Born Lethabo Sebetso on May 26, 1996, in Ga-Rankuwa, Pretoria, Focalistic’s journey has been anything but typical. A former footballer with a political science degree from the University of Pretoria, his leap into music turned out to be destiny.
With early hits like Ke Star catapulting him to fame — even landing him on Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart — Foca quickly became one of the biggest names in Amapiano and South African music at large.
Discography That Speaks for Itself
Focalistic’s musical catalogue tells the story of constant evolution and elevation. Key projects include:
- Sgubu ses Excellent (2020)
- President Ya Straata (2021)
- Ghetto Gospel (2022)
- 13POS (2024)
Each project pushed boundaries and brought Amapiano into new spaces, earning him awards, nominations, and worldwide recognition.
Blending Street Rap with Amapiano Vibes
What sets Focalistic apart is his genre-defying sound — a blend of sharp township rap, smooth Amapiano production, and lyrical content that reflects South African youth culture. Whether it’s the lingo, the fashion, or the message, Foca is always tapped into the streets.
What’s Next? A Game-Changing Album
Though he’s keeping details close to his chest, Focalistic promises the next project will be his most impactful yet.
“We’re not just making music — we’re making moments,”
he says.
“This album is going to shift how people see what we’re doing. Trust me.”
