An Electrifying Collaboration Hits the Dancefloor
South Africa’s boldest new electro force, Sossi, has teamed up with powerhouse vocalist Armand Joubert for “Slag” — a blistering new club track that redefines the word slay in Afrikaans. Infused with high-energy beats, unapologetic lyrics, and a fiery fusion of electro-pop and rap, “Slag” is a defiant celebration of individuality, confidence, and queer expression.
Where Worlds Collide in Sound and Spirit
With Sossi’s razor-sharp Afrikaans flow and Joubert’s dynamic vocal range, “Slag” isn’t just a song — it’s a bold cultural statement.
“This is what it sounds like when two worlds collide in the club and don’t apologize for taking up space,”
says Sossi. Joubert adds,
“We wanted to create something that celebrates individuality and power. It’s queer, it’s loud, it’s everything.”
Meet Sossi: A New Electro Identity with Bite
The track marks another standout moment in the evolution of Sossi, the electrifying alter ego of actress-turned-artist Augusta Zietsman. Known for her work in Blood & Water and Dinge van ‘n Kind, Zietsman launched Sossi in 2023 with the EP Breekgoed. Her transition from introspective indie artist to electro provocateur has positioned her as a fearless voice in Afrikaans music.
From Screen to Studio: Augusta Zietsman Reinvented
Before becoming Sossi, Zietsman captivated audiences with emotionally rich performances on screen and in her debut musical work. Breekgoed explored themes of loss and vulnerability with a raw mix of punk-rock, acoustic, and hip-hop. Now, with the help of producer Peach van Pletzen and visual collaborator Regardt Visser, she has embraced a louder, more satirical sound with tracks like “Blok & Bless.”
Armand Joubert: A Vocal Powerhouse Unleashed
Joining forces with Sossi on “Slag”, Armand Joubert brings his signature vocal firepower to the mix. Known for his genre-bending performances and bold style, Joubert continues to push the boundaries of South African pop, making this collaboration one of the most exciting drops of the year.
