About Yumbs: A Prodigy Redefining the Sound of Amapiano
Born Ayanda Oratile Yumba in 2002 in Kagiso township, Yumbs’ musical journey started in the church and quickly progressed through formal training in multiple instruments. By age 18, he was composing theatre scores and producing chart-topping hits.
His breakout came in 2020 with Musa Keys’ “Vula Mlomo,” followed by high-profile collaborations with Kelvin Momo, Pabi Cooper, Major League DJz, and DJ Maphorisa.
In 2023–2024, his international work included collaborations with Will.I.Am, Pharrell Williams, Ciara, and Muni Long, and a stint at Warner Music Africa’s Ghana songwriting camp alongside JoeBoy, Bien, and P.Prime.
