Honouring Madiba through action
Following the release of Bab’Motha by Kabza De Small, and with preparations in full swing for the historic Scorpion Kings Live with Friends concert, the production team — alongside artists Mlindo The Vocalist, Tracy, Young Stunna, and Sony Music Africa — took a meaningful pause to honour Nelson Mandela’s legacy of compassion and service.
67 minutes of impact at Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre
In celebration of Mandela Day, the team spent time at Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre, an orphanage in Alexandra, where they went beyond the symbolic 67 minutes. Activities included refurbishing parts of the home, painting shared spaces, preparing and serving warm meals, and offering entertainment for the children.
Essential donations delivered with care
The visit was not just hands-on — it also involved the handover of essential items. Donations included diapers, nursery mats, stationery, non-perishable food, and vital toiletries such as washing powder, sanitary pads, baby powder, toilet paper, toothpaste, and toothbrushes.
Artists speak on the spirit of Mandela Day
“As artists, we recognise the importance of giving back to the communities that surround and support us,”
said Mlindo The Vocalist.
“Spending time at Thuthuzela allows us to not only honour Tata’s legacy, but also make a tangible difference in the lives of the children and young people here. That’s what Mandela Day is about — service, love, and humanity.”
A call to everyday action
Sony Music Africa, Kabza De Small, Young Stunna, Tracy, and the Scorpion Kings Live With Friends team encourage South Africans and organisations alike to take action in their own communities — not just on Mandela Day, but throughout the year.
