Court Appearance in Polokwane
Two accused individuals, Masheleng July Mashishi (25) and Karabo Kgoroshi Lucas Mothiba (27), have appeared before the Polokwane Magistrates’ Court in Limpopo in connection with the murder of Lekompo music producer Gadifele Lastborn Maimela (25).
Charges and Allegations
The pair are facing charges of murder and attempted murder following an incident that allegedly took place on 06 April 2026 in Polokwane. According to reports, Maimela was at home with friends when events escalated into a violent confrontation.
Incident Details
It is alleged that Maimela had stepped out with friends after assisting them with a request. Upon reaching the gate, they encountered the two accused. The situation reportedly intensified when the men forced their way into the yard, leading to a physical altercation.
During the confrontation, a firearm was allegedly produced, and shots were fired. Maimela sustained fatal injuries, while one of his friends was injured during the incident.
Arrest and Investigation
The matter was reported to authorities, and the suspects were arrested the following day. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Case Postponed for Bail Application
The case has been postponed to 16 April 2026 to allow for a formal bail application. Both accused remain in custody until their next court appearance.
