South African DJ and producer DJ Call Me is preparing to share another chapter of his musical journey with Lekompo Damage, a five-track project inspired by love, friendship and everyday experiences.
From the joy of spending time with friends to the disappointment of discovering their hidden intentions, the project brings a range of familiar stories into the Limpopo producer’s dance music world.
A sound rooted in Limpopo
Born Aubrey Lebese, DJ Call Me has built his reputation by blending traditional South African sounds with modern dance music. Over a career spanning more than a decade, his catchy productions and collaborations have helped take his music beyond his home province.
He rose to prominence with “Marry Me” and continued to grow his audience through songs including “Matorokisi,” featuring Makhadzi, “Swanda Ntha,” “Dikuku” and “Maxaka.” His work with artists such as Makhadzi has further strengthened his presence in South African dance music.
On Lekompo Damage, he turns his attention to the relationships and moments that shape daily life.

Friendship and celebration on ‘Tobetsa’
“Tobetsa” captures the pleasure of having a good time with friends. Its story moves between peaceful getaways, nights out and dance challenges, celebrating the shared experiences that become lasting memories.
The track introduces the project’s lighter side, putting friendship and enjoyment at the centre of the dancefloor.
Different expressions of love
Love takes several forms across the project. “Sdudla” offers a playful story of attraction, following a man who falls for a beautiful, full-figured woman and admires both her appearance and the way she carries herself.
“Ngifuna Wena” explores a deeper longing for genuine love and commitment. It follows someone whose heart belongs to one person and who hopes that devotion will be returned, convinced that nobody else could take their partner’s place.
Meanwhile, “Ngibambe” brings humour to a request for support. The song follows someone asking their partner to help them walk after having too much to drink, hoping to avoid disappointing their parents by arriving home visibly intoxicated.
A harder look at loyalty on ‘Fake Friends’
The mood shifts on “Fake Friends,” which examines the hurt caused by people who appear supportive while secretly wishing for someone’s downfall.
Addressing jealousy, dishonesty and betrayal, the song adds a more reflective dimension to the project. Alongside the celebrations of friendship and romance, it acknowledges that relationships can also bring disappointment.
A new chapter for DJ Call Me
Across its five tracks, Lekompo Damage brings together playful storytelling, romantic devotion and reflections on trust. The project continues DJ Call Me’s approach to making dance music that connects with the experiences of his listeners.
