From Recovery to Endurance Challenge

South African DJ, producer and entrepreneur Prince Kaybee is set to undertake the most demanding physical challenge of his career as he embarks on the inaugural HiPace Cycle Challenge Presented by Prince Kaybee.

The three-day cycling challenge, taking place from 13 to 15 June 2026, will see the artist ride more than 600 kilometres from Johannesburg to Durban, covering an average of approximately 200 kilometres per day. The distance significantly exceeds his previous personal best cycling achievement of 158 kilometres.

A Journey Inspired by Rehabilitation

The challenge carries personal significance for Prince Kaybee following a serious motorcycle accident two years ago that left him with multiple fractures and required four surgeries.

Known for his active lifestyle and passion for long-distance running, the accident forced him to confront the possibility that he might never return to competitive running. Instead of stepping away from fitness altogether, he turned to cycling as part of his rehabilitation process.

What began as a recovery tool gradually evolved into a passion, helping him rebuild both physical strength and mental resilience through months of disciplined training.

More Than Just a Cycling Event

According to Prince Kaybee, the HiPace Cycle Challenge is intended to represent more than athletic achievement.

The artist says the initiative is aimed at inspiring people who have faced setbacks, encouraging them to rebuild and pursue new goals despite unexpected life changes.

The challenge has been positioned as a story of resilience, determination and personal reinvention, reflecting the journey Prince Kaybee has undergone since his accident.

Route Covers Three Provinces

The route will begin in Midrand on Saturday, 13 June, before travelling through the Free State to Bethlehem.

From there, the challenge will continue through the mountainous terrain of the Drakensberg and Oliviershoek Pass en route to Pietermaritzburg. The final stage will follow the well-known Amashova cycling route into Durban, concluding at Durban South Beach.

The route spans parts of Gauteng, the Free State and KwaZulu-Natal, showcasing some of South Africa’s most scenic cycling corridors.

Charity Component Included

Beyond the endurance challenge, the initiative also includes a charitable element. Organisers have confirmed that a portion of the proceeds generated through the campaign will be donated to a selected charity, extending the impact of the event beyond cycling.
