The countdown to the inaugural of what is expected to be Bloemfontein’s biggest lifestyle festival, the Blackdoor Experience, has officially begun with Samthing Soweto, Sjava and Shimza having been announced as the official headliners of the event.
Following the renovations that have been made to the Ekhayeni Club recently, media pupils took to the venue on Wednesday for the launch of the highly anticipated outdoor event scheduled to take place on December 16 at Ramblers Club in Bloemfontein which is set to be an extension of the club’s vibrant nightlife reputation.
Metro FM’s breakfast show presenter DJ Sabby, who jetted off to the province to host the event, shed light on the impact this event would have on the tourism growth in the Free State, as well as the entertainment culture in the community.
“I’ve always felt like the whole province of The Free State is overlooked when we talk about SA tourism. There is so much history and iconic locations placed within the province. Ekhayeni has been of service to the community for over two decades and they want to elevate themselves, push for the next level, and do something outside of their comfort zone. It’s hard not to support such a vision,”
Sabby said.
“This will boost the economy of the province, and Bloemfontein as a city. People from outside of Bloem’ will travel to the city. Local businesses will get a boost, young people will get a chance to work via employment opportunities created by the event, and the hotels, as well as the B&B establishments, will get a boost that weekend.”
Equally exciting news, the Blackdoor Experience has partnered with Paramount as the exclusive television sponsor for the event.
The media personality went on to speak on the respect he has for the founder of the event, Nkokheli Lindazwe for the consistent strides he’s taken to champion the province.
“When he reached out and gave me an overview of their vision I believed in it. There are plenty of positives that come out of hosting such a big event. The partnership with Paramount will also see local talent get the spotlight which is a great stride in empowering local talent and exposing them to a bigger audience outside their reach.”
The official performance line-up will be revealed on October 23 on MTV Base, and all event social media platforms.
The Chief Comms and Creative Officer of the Blackdoor Experience, Nkokheli Lindazwe spoke of why he decided to position himself with paramount.
“What excites me the most about this monumental partnership is that the deal will benefit Free State local talent immensely because as part of our integrated marketing plan, we intend on utilising television programmes such as Newsish on MTV Base to shine a much-needed spotlight on local talent by giving them interview opportunities on the show,”
he said.
