KMAT finally releases debut EP titled Luminous Flame

Notorious for her aptitude and boisterous versatility on the decks, Amapiano producer and DJ, Koketso Reabetswe Mathabathe, professionally known as KMAT, is a talented musician under the guardianship of prominent producer, DJ, and record label owner, Felo Le Tee.

KMAT’s EP titled, “Luminous Flame” is her first body of work and is an easy exploration of the DJ’s musical language as an Amapiano artist.

The Soshangushve-bred citizen grew up in South Africa’s national capital and party central, Pretoria, to which her love for DJing was assumed when she undertook the role of choir conductor in high school.

The musician recollects that it was upon observing her audiences’ reaction to her music selection that her decision to become a DJ was made almost instantaneously.

“Luminous Flame” features include The Empire Worldwide’s founder and KMAT’s mentor Felo Le Tee, as well as, 2woshort and 031CHOPPA, amongst a number of other prominent Amapiano artists. 

In an attempt to gauge the temperature for the new offering, both KMAT and Felo Le Tee began testing the music during live sets, which lead to one such snippet garnering over 50k views on TikTok and 100k on YouTube. 

The project’s lead single, “Themba Lam” features Amapiano’s next star on the rise, Sino Msolo, whose nostalgic delivery is engrossed in 90s Kwaito hues.

“Bafuna Mina,” which is produced by both KMAT and Felo Le Tee, is a song which has already started gaining traction on socials and clubs across the country.

In addition, KMAT’s highly anticipated street single, “Jobe” which features Felo Le Tee, also makes an appearance on KMAT’s
debut project.

With the support of her mentor and her ability to make hits that garners attention from the streets, the future is looking bright for the “Luminous Flame” producer.

When asked about her future goals in music, KMAT stated,

“I want my music to be played internationally and I want to be able to perform my music” .

An answer so simple yet impactful that no other answer will do.
