Award-winning DJ, Producer and Entrepreneur, Ashley Raphala, better known by his fans as Shimza, continues to give back to his community of Tembisa in Gauteng by donating school shoes to learners.

Doing the little we can to keep the young ones in school, giving them hope to keep going

Says Shimza.

The 2023 Shoes Of Hope initiative took place on 17 January at the Rabasotho Community Hall whereby Shimza handed over hundreds of pairs to kids.

Tembisa ke hae, after some self reflection it hit me that the show is what it is because of what it does for the community, the Christmas party for the kids on the day and the thousands of school shoes we get to donate through this show makes this something we can never get rid of, it’s beyond my own emotions and challenges it comes with it.

With an undeniable list of impressive accolades, Shimza’s international footprint sees him having played at events such as Burning Man, Ushuaia with Camelphat, Blue Marlin and Void Mykonos.

Locally, Shimza heads up events such as ‘Kunye’, ‘U’R’, ‘Shimza’s One Man Show’ and ‘Shimza and Friends’. Notably, his One Man Show has been running for 14 years and hosts about 10 000 attendees.
