A Creative Ritual Born in Durban
Dlala Thukzin has officially dropped the second volume of his fan-favorite series, 031 Studio Camp, a vibrant and collaborative body of work birthed from his annual studio camp in Durban, South Africa. The project is a celebration of unfiltered creativity, bringing together some of the most dynamic artists and producers for an intensive weekend of music-making.

Pushing the Afro-Electronic Envelope
While Thukzin initially rose to fame through the explosive Gqom scene, 031 Studio Camp Vol. 2 sees him exploring the rich sonic textures of Afrotech and Afro House. He continues to push the envelope with his signature style — a unique blend of heavy percussion, soulful melodies, and electronic layers. This musical shift cements Thukzin’s place as one of the leading innovators of South Africa’s evolving dance music landscape, alongside names like Oscar Mbo and Jazzworx.

Star-Studded Collaborations
The 8-track EP features a stellar lineup, including vocal powerhouses like Zeh McGeba, Nkosazana Daughter, Zee Nxumalo, and Limit Nala. As always, Thukzin works closely with his long-time collaborators Skillz and MK Productions to deliver the polished yet emotionally resonant sound fans have come to love.

“It’s a project that shows where we are with our sound right now,”

says Thukzin.

“It’s about working with the people I trust and creating music that feels good and real.”

The Man Behind the Music: Dlala Thukzin
Thuthuka Wandile Zindlovu, better known as Dlala Thukzin, was born in 1997 in Lamontville, Durban. Raised by his grandmother, Thukzin began his musical journey by helping his DJ uncle at local events. His breakthrough came in 2016 with the production of “Umngan’wami” on Babes Wodumo’s Gqom Queen Vol. 1, a defining moment in the rise of Gqom.

Since then, Thukzin has released acclaimed projects like Permanent Music and Finally Famous, constantly evolving his sound. His chart-topping 2023 hit “iPlan” featuring Zaba and Sykes went double Platinum, while “Phuze” and its star-studded remix also achieved Platinum status.

An Award-Worthy Trajectory
With multiple nominations at the 2025 Metro FM Awards and past recognition from both the South African Music Awards and the All-Africa Music Awards, Dlala Thukzin’s influence on the African music scene is undeniable. 031 Studio Camp Vol. 2 is not just another release — it’s a powerful statement from an artist who continues to shape the future of South African dance music.
