Apple Music Celebrates African Dance Music with TRESOR

Apple Music has announced multi-award-winning African pop maverick TRESOR as the latest cover star for Isgubhu, its flagship platform dedicated to African dance and electronic music. The recognition comes as a tribute to TRESOR’s ongoing influence in shaping the continent’s sonic identity.

A Personal Milestone for TRESOR

“I am delighted and honoured to be on the cover of Isgubhu for June, as I aim to elevate African dance music here at home and globally—a genre that has been so vital in my musical journey,”

said TRESOR in a statement to Apple Music.

New Music: “Naliya” Featuring Msaki & BATUNDI

To mark this milestone, TRESOR has reunited with acclaimed singer-songwriter Msaki and genre-defying artist BATUNDI for a new single titled “Naliya.” The track blends euphoric melodies with enchanting electronic textures, showcasing the trio’s signature synergy. Emotional yet danceable, the song is poised to light up both clubs and streaming charts.

From “Mount Everest” to Global Collaborations

The Congolese-born singer, producer, and entrepreneur burst onto the scene with the 2015 hit “Mount Everest,” and has since released four more studio albums. TRESOR’s global appeal has seen him co-write and produce music for Drake, including the hit “Fountains” featuring Nigerian star Tems, cementing his role in global Afro-pop.

Championing the Future of African Sound

A curator at heart, TRESOR has also handpicked a selection of tracks for the exclusive Isgubhu playlist, including:

  • “Ndisize” by Caiiro & Ami Faku
  • “Sohlala Sonke” by Dlala Thukzin
  • “Gorah” by Nitefreak & Emmanuel Jal

“I am really enjoying this new wave of African electronic music,”

TRESOR said.

“I’ve chosen songs with outstanding melodies and rhythm, bringing such amazing colour to African dance music. I think we are entering the most innovative phase of African music ever, and it’s very exciting!”
