A Celebration of Afro-House in Johannesburg
Mayonie Open Air is bringing its celebration of African electronic music to Johannesburg on 29 November 2026, with a lineup featuring Themba, Zakes Bantwini, Simmy and some of the most recognised names in South African dance music.
Presented by Mayonie Productions, the event will bring together Afro-house, Afrotech and soulful electronic sounds for a full day centred on music, culture and connection.
Themba Joins a Strong Cast of Performers
International Afro-house star Themba leads a bill that includes Da Capo, Enoo Napa, Oscar Mbo, Ciza, Simmy, Thandi Draai, Crazy White Boy, Samurai, Privacii, Jazzworx, Thukuthela and Zakes Bantwini.
The selection brings established favourites and emerging talent onto the same platform, reflecting the range of artists contributing to African electronic music’s evolving sound.
From soulful melodies to percussion-driven dancefloor selections, the programme promises a broad exploration of the genres at the heart of Mayonie Open Air.
Back-to-Back Sets Take Centre Stage
Two back-to-back pairings are among the highlights of the Johannesburg edition.
Da Capo B2B Enoo Napa will bring together two distinct approaches to Afro-house, giving audiences an opportunity to experience their sounds in a shared set.
Meanwhile, Oscar Mbo B2B Ciza is expected to connect deep, soulful and contemporary house influences, adding another dimension to the day’s musical offering.
These collaborations reinforce the event’s emphasis on creative exchange and the connections between different expressions of African dance music.
Zakes Bantwini Shares the Vision
For Mayonie Productions founder Zakes Bantwini, the event is an opportunity to create a space for discovery while celebrating the artists audiences already know and love.
“Mayonie Open Air is about creating a space where the music speaks for itself. We want people to come together, discover something new, celebrate the artists they love and experience the energy of Afro-house in its many forms,” says Bantwini.
That vision extends to the platform’s broader ambition: bringing African electronic music to audiences at scale while creating opportunities for established performers and the next generation of talent to share a stage.
Continuing the Mayonie Open Air Journey
The Johannesburg edition represents another step in Mayonie Open Air’s expansion, with the brand continuing to build its identity around the evolution of Afro-house.
Under the banner “The Evolution of Afrohouse,” the November gathering will place collaboration, musical discovery and dancefloor culture at the centre of the experience.
