Kusasa and ANATII Drop Groundbreaking Afro-House Track

by admin

The South African electronic dance music (EDM) duo Kusasa, renowned for their Afro-House beats, has teamed up with hip-hop icon ANATII for a remarkable new track.

The collaboration, which also features the vocal talents of Mawhoo and Noxolo Ngema, alongside producer King DeeToy, promises to captivate listeners with its powerful fusion of sounds and emotive storytelling.

Formed in early 2016, Kusasa—comprised of Kunzima Theology (Joshua Sokweba) and Samurai Yasusa (Mncedi Tshicila)—has consistently pushed boundaries within the Afro-House genre. Their breakthrough came with their 2017 EP ‘Kusuka Sukela’, released under the UK label DM Recordings.

Their remix of Lizwi and DeMajor’s “Traveller” not only charted in over 50 DJ charts on Traxsource but also secured a spot at number 53 on Traxsource’s Top 200 Best Selling Afro House of the year.

This latest track marks a significant departure from their usual style, blending their signature Afro-House rhythms with ANATII’s influential hip-hop flair.

ANATII, known for his distinctive tribal influences and innovative approach to hip-hop, enriches the track’s soundscape, adding a layer of depth and complexity that complements Kusasa’s clean and meticulous production.

Leading the vocal charge is Mawhoo, whose sweeping and emotive voice sets the tone for the track. Mawhoo’s renowned depth and emotional resonance are matched by the poignant contributions of her biological sister, Noxolo Ngema.

Together, their performance underscores the track’s profound message about the struggles faced by young people dealing with poverty and joblessness, themes that often lead to substance abuse.

The collaboration, while unconventional, showcases the synergy between artists from different musical realms, blending Afro-House with hip-hop to create a sonically immersive experience.

King DeeToy’s production further amplifies the track’s impact, merging elements of each artist’s style to deliver a powerful and socially conscious piece.

This track stands out not just for its musical richness but also for its ability to resonate on a deeper level, addressing pressing social issues while pushing the boundaries of genre fusion.

Fans of Kusasa, ANATII, Mawhoo, and Noxolo Ngema will find this collaboration to be a refreshing and compelling addition to their musical repertoire, exemplifying how diverse artistic influences can come together to produce something truly exceptional.
