Who Is De Mthuda?
Born Mthuthuzeli Gift Khoza in Vosloorus, Johannesburg, De Mthuda is a pioneer in South Africa’s Amapiano scene. He began producing music in 2010 during high school and soon made the leap into a full-time music career. Over the years, he’s earned a reputation for crafting sounds that not only define dance floors but also capture the emotional depth of township life.
Hitmaker with a Signature Sound
De Mthuda has shaped the Amapiano genre with hits like “Shesha Geza”—certified gold by RiSA—and “John Wick,” as well as full-length albums like Ace of Spades (with Ntokzin), The Landlord, and Story To Tell: Vol. 2. His collaboration with Da Muziqal Chief on Sgudi Sync further solidified his role as a genre innovator.
