At the Heart of Amapiano Royalty

When you think of Amapiano’s most defining voices, Boohle (real name Buhle Manyathi) easily comes to mind. With her gospel-rooted melodies and soulful delivery, she’s helped shape the genre’s emotional depth while collaborating with heavyweights like Cassper Nyovest, Josiah De Disciple, and Mr JazziQ.

Recently, TheJournalistDJ.com caught up with the songbird at Ch’cco and Focalistic’s project launch, where she came through to support the boys.

“This Project Is Truly Amazing”

Boohle’s face lit up as she spoke about the new collaboration between Ch’cco and Focalistic.

“Honestly, this project is truly, truly amazing. I was dancing the whole time listening to it… They did a good job, an amazing job. It’s a good collaboration. We’ll be twerking all our way to December!”

Life After the Hits

It’s been a while since Boohle’s last sit-down with TheJournalistDJ.com, but the singer assured us she’s been far from idle.

“My life has been good. I’ve been listening to myself, finding myself… but I’m definitely back in studio now. We’re working with Pabi, with JazziQ — there’s a lot coming. I’m still deciding whether to drop an album or a single, but people will definitely see me much, much more.”

A Shift Towards Spirituality

Known for weaving messages of love and healing into her music, Boohle revealed that her current studio sessions are guided by deeper themes.

“I’m talking a whole lot more about spirituality, about growth, about life in general. I want to uplift people, bring positivity, and remove bad energies. It’s about standing up for yourself and feeling good about yourself knowing you’re not alone.”

A Global Voice — Sung in Zulu

Despite singing in Zulu, Boohle’s reach extends far beyond South Africa. From touring across Africa to performing in the UK, she remains humbled by how fans embrace her music.

“It still amazes me… people don’t know Zulu, but they sing word for word. Sometimes they even search what the songs mean so they can understand better. They’re always wanting to learn Zulu, always wanting to come to South Africa. I feel humbled and super grateful to be part of something so amazing.”

New Collaborations on the Way

While she kept some details under wraps, Boohle confirmed exciting collaborations are brewing.

“We recorded with Pabi, so maybe a body of work might be coming there. Another big collaboration is also on the way — it’s going to be exciting for the people.”

Summer Anthem Alert: Shela

Fans won’t have to wait long for new music. Boohle already has a single heating up the streets.

“I have Shela with Sam Deep and Nia Pearl that is out right now. It’s doing amazing. If you can’t shela [propose], just send the song and say, ‘Boohle said it.’ This one is for the shy ones too!”

The Return of a Queen

From the early days of Amapiano’s rise to becoming one of its most recognisable voices, Boohle continues to evolve — grounded in spirituality, fuelled by collaboration, and guided by the mission to uplift. With new projects in the works and a summer anthem already on rotation, it’s clear: Boohle’s reign as Amapiano royalty is far from over.
