DJ Flax (real name, Matthew Malcolm) has brought his own signature, relaxed and approachable sound to DJing and live performance over the past decade. Trained at the Pioneer DJ Institute, he combines his love of guitar and live production with traditional DJ techniques to create a unique sound experience. FFusing downtempo, neo-soul and house with live production elements, such as guitar looping, drum pads and keys, Flax is able to create a performance to match every mood. Having performed at various festivals, clubs and venues, he continues to entrench his name within this developing sound. Outside of DJing Flax is an established radio presenter, adding his voice to the weekend line-up on the Jo’burg based youth station – YFM. With an extensive music knowledge, Flax presents two music specialty shows. On Saturdays he is the voice behind Throwback Riot, which focuses on the nostalgia of old-school music.
